Chef de Cuisine at Union Bank Inn Hotel

Some kids wanted to be doctors, scientists, astronauts, or teachers, but I was blessed enough to know that at around 7 years old I knew I wanted to be a chef. I grew up in the kitchen, raised by my mother and her 2 sisters who loved to cook. The best memories I've had as a child was waking up to the smell of sautéed onions, garlic and tomato omelette, and seeing my mom and aunties getting ready to start the day by cooking a nice and healthy breakfast. On the table would be a fresh batch of warm pandesal, purchased from the bakery across the street, cold butter that melted as soon as you spread it on the bread, and coffee for them. Growing up, I already had a plan after high school and that is to go to culinary school. However, growing up in the Philippines, as a child of the 80's, my parents did not think that cooking is a career. Celebrity chefs and all these cooking shows were not yet popular at that time, so, had to compromise. I finished my Bachelors Degree in International Studies, only after that I was allowed to continue my studies and go to culinary school. I earned my stripes in working at restaurants with some of the greatest chefs in the world. It's a tough industry, all the more for a young woman. I kept my head down and absorbed as much as I can. I am very grateful to my mentors who guided me along the way and who moulded me to become who I am today. Being in the kitchen is my passion, but also being in the kitchen and be able to teach is a greater passion. I want to share and transfer the knowledge I gained from the great teachers that I had along the way. I'm going on a new chapter in my life now. I'm expecting my first baby and he'll be coming anytime soon. This website is a perfect avenue for me to continue what I love to do while I'm at home with my baby. I'm looking forward to this experience and hopefully, I could be of service to you.
