Share your talents, background and expertise.Ramona L.J. Baptiste CC is a Chef with a great passion of food and with the greater passion of exploring healthy eating. She is a graduate of the Illinois institute of Art- Chicago culinary program and a member of the American Culinary Federation. She was diagnosed with diabetes in 1999 and she realized she had to change her way of eating. She became a diabetic instructor and a nutritional specialist so she could help educate in the prevention of diabetes and other chronic illness in the underserved communities and beyond. Ramona has incorporated her cooking expertise to numerous programs such as the Susa house, vital visions, Girl Scouts of America, Chicago Youth Center Fellowship House, and Chefs Move to Schools. Chef Ramona is always continuing her advocacy for a healthier community including the Greater Roseland and the Greater Grand Crossing community that is underserved and a food desert. She has taken her expertise in food with a lot of love striving for healthier food choices when on a limited budget. She has been doing food demonstrations at Louise grocery since their opening in 2012 showcasing how to create healthy meals from the products sold at the store. Chef Ramona goal is to spread awareness of eating healthy does not have to be expensive. It’s all about using what is acquired from the food banks and what is on hand at home.
