Hi, my name is Pastry Chef David Benton and I am self-taught in the art of cake making and decorating and self-employed. in 2009 I started Sugarsweet Pastries mainly as a way for me to practice my cake and marketing skills using youtube tutorials, books and the occasional Wilton class as guides. Sugarsweet Pastries is now Sugarsweet Cookie + Cake Studio. Since 2009, I have been featured in magazines like Cuisine Noir, Basil, Modern Flavor and Munaluchi Bride. My work has been featured in blogs like 100 Layer Cake and I have been interviewed on numerous online radio programs. I've made fresh berry tarts for actor Danny Glover, baked Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s birthday cake, whipped up cupcakes for Dwayne Wiggins of Toni Tony Tone and made campaign cakes for ex-KPIX newscaster Dana King. I've worked in the kitchen with Top Chef Just Dessert’s contestant Erika Davis and celebrity chef G. Garvin.
